Why Not Legalize Prostitution?

This is in response to some comments on a social media site. Please read it carefully.

I worked with women on the streets for years, even almost got arrested a couple of times because they thought I was doing that too.

Legalizing prostitution is 100% not going to make it safer for anybody.

Any more than removing the speed limit is going to make it safer for people on the road.

It is one thing to break a law and acknowledge that the law should be there and that a thing is wrong. It is a whole ‘nother level to say that no law should be there at all.

Every Woman is a treasure not meant to be shared by a bunch of men like a commodity.

Likewise, every man is a treasure not meant to be shared by a bunch of women like a commodity.

You wouldn’t think of walking around with all of your money in the bank account taped to your body.

If you value your money more than to share it with everybody, then why do you think your body isn’t worth that much?

Every individual is a treasure meant to be treasured by one other individual for their entire life. Knowing that there is somebody that you are willing to die for and who is willing to die for you. Parents would fall into that category as would a husband for a wife and a wife for her children. And where there is not those family connections, often there are friendships that become just as close and have that same dynamic, but the biggest facilitator of that kind of love and the place from where it comes from is God.

In this broken world, it is not always the case that we experience that kind of love from another human and that is a tragedy and we can cry and weep over it and then be encouraged and move forward and strive to show that kind of love to someone else.

But just because somebody is born without an arm doesn’t mean everybody else should cut their arm off. When something is not right, we can show compassion and love in the moment, but to decide to declare that what was not right is now okay and not only that but should be the norm, is neither love nor compassion, because it exalts a standard that greatly demeans the value of a single human soul. Including their body.

Some people might be single for their entire lives like my two best friends chose to go that route.

But no individual is meant to have their body sold. Exchanging sex for money in any form devalues both parties, for both were created to be treasured, to have the joy of sex without cost, without selling, in a relationship of safety and protection, gentleness, kindness, humility, with the desire for nurture and care.

Sex was never meant to take the place or be overly exalted over the rest of life but it was meant to be a joy between husband and wife.

—and wherever you are and you were thinking on these things, you are treasured, forgiven and you are loved because of the Source of these belief systems.

Please understand. Without the Christian teachings that are prevalent in our country, regardless of how some (not all) Christians fall short at times of setting the good example, the desired protections that prostitutes and others have that do not agree with these teachings would not exist without the Christian influence. Certainly we fall short. And I ask forgiveness of any one who is not a Believer for the many fallings within the Western world by Christians. But I can call them fallings when people do not walk in God’s truth justice and love because of our beliefs in the Creator, Redeemer, Paraclete and in the great value of every human showed to us in the word of God.

I can judge Myself and those within my circle because of our belief system.

Those “protections” we seek for prostitutes did not exist in the Roman era or through many many places in humanity throughout the centuries.

Children were used and degraded without concern and it was considered fine and normal in many cultures prior to Christ as was taking a baby and allowing it to die in the open air if it was not perfect in any way.

All of these things are gross and atrocities, as gross in God’s eyes as are pride and lies (Proverbs 6) before the Throne of God because each individual is worth infinitely more than any gold or Jewels or anything this world could offer.

Your value and the value of every woman and man is not something that can be bought or sold. It is not something that changes with how dirty it gets.

You are a treasure and every man and every woman is a treasure, but when we devalue the value of a human with paid sex and other things, then we should not be shocked when we have taught people the value of a human isn’t worth that much, when we have suicide and shootings in schools.

Do you not understand, beloved? It is the same thought process and the same force that works in both. A baby viper will grow up to be a Viper. A baby viper is not going to grow up and be a cute rabbit.

And so devaluing Humanity on any level will continue to grow, and, as the word of God teaches, when sin is fully grown, it produces death.

If you do not wish death, then you will have to come in line with the laws of God which really aren’t that difficult, because of his love and grace when we come into obedience of receiving his salvation, and when we understand that change takes place over time, some things take years, and above all when we are in a loving Godly community that also exalts the laws of God and we aren’t busy trying to follow the laws of the world also!

If I spend all of my time and energy putting on makeup and doing my hair and doing a whole bunch of things not necessary for life, because the laws of the world demand it, then yes the laws of God are very difficult to be obedient to as well, because my time and energy is already depleted in serving the world.

It is only when we are fully committed to God that we find his yoke is easy and his burden is light. He cares for the Lilies of the Field and the birds of the air and we have a delightful inheritance.

But there are many challenges and the growth and learning to receive his Love Takes Time.

It is much harder when the community at Large is going 85 miles an hour on the speedway, to ourselves be going 65 mph in obedience to the speed limit. How much harder to be safe if we decide to remove the speed limit completely ?!

So when community at large is all agreed that things should be done the wrong way then it is much harder for those who are choosing to do the right way and then it is not as peaceful as God means it to be.

We as Society have grown and there have been many blessings, but we need to continue to grow.

If you permit the devaluing of a human through paid sex and now choose to state that it is not even wrong, there is no consequence, then surely you understand why our generation chooses suicide and shootings?

There are many threads, often starting at a young age, that play into our thinking.

One of the things that must be understood from the Bible is the teaching that at the cross equality is gained by all. Our sins are forgiven. Pride, greed, sexual immorality, our sins were paid for in full at the cross. The Bible teaches us that every Valley will be lifted up and every Hill will be made low. The rough places plain and the Crooked places straight.

And so if we do not understand that our value is in who God made us and in the cross, we will try to justify the wrongs that we do so that we feel valued.

Many within the church do that with their arrogance and pride, justifying it on one hand and ignoring it on the other, even though the Bible says very clearly pride is an Abomination Before the Throne of God. Proverbs 6 and Proverbs 16.

But when we are honest with all of the faults of humanity and the person in the mirror and understand that the love of God does not ever flow with how good we are, but rather his love is consistent regardless whether someone’s sin is sexual immorality more whether their sin is the equally damnable sin of greed and the abomination of pride.  

But there is forgiveness and there is salvation.  At the cross of Jesus Christ the old Covenant solidified through the law and circumcision came to an end and the New Covenant began in the blood of Jesus Christ. Christ did not set aside the law.

The law is good. But he fulfilled it because we could not. And so our sins are forgiven. So now we look from the perspective of children of the Living God who have believed in Christ’s salvation and we clean to the knowledge of his goodness and Grace and then we understand that this natural world functions in the way that God designed it.

We are saved by grace alone but that does not change the law of gravity. The law of gravity will work for us or against us depending on what we try to do. We are saved by grace alone but the laws of God in the spirit Realm also work for us or against us. The beautiful thing is when we are in connection with God he forgives our sins and there is so much covering and Grace as we grow in the knowledge of his love, but still sin grows up into destruction and death and God does not desire that for his children so he teaches us in his word how to live.

He encourages us to stop our arrogance and our pride – thinking we are better than anybody else or that we don’t need God. He warns us of the death and destruction that will come if we continue in prideful arrogance or greed and he is angry with sin because it harms the people whom he loves so very much.

A person in arrogance and pride, the Bible teaches, is far from God. Because God is close to the humble but far from the proud and God hates Pride. Likewise sexual immorality is destructive because it blasphemes God and it destroys the lives of those who participate in it. Surely we have seen and it is a medical fact that sexually transmitted diseases are far far less when people stay celibate and only have one partner of the opposite sex for their entire lives. We are not bound to our bodies or this fleshly world that is Fallen when we are children of God. We do not have to be slaves to the punishments our bodies give us because Christ set us free, not to sin, but to be free from the death it caused, for all who believe in Christ will be saved.

If we say there is no wrong to devaluing women or men through prostitution, the same thought process, the same rationale continues down that path and devalues life in all of those other scenarios. Each individual is worth infinitely more than all the gold and treasures in the world, meant to be loved, treasured, respected and adored.

For the sake of every human Jesus Christ died.

They were worth the blood of Christ. Every individual is of infinite worth.

In a healthy relationship there is an understanding of what it means till death do us part.

When that is broken, when that understanding of the value of every human is diminished, then it is definitely a tragedy.

You are a treasure.

And every one of those women or men is a treasure worth infinitely more than all the gold and jewels in the world.

Their bodies should never be demeaned by just being sold for money. That is repulsive. Likewise men and women’s sex drives are not to rule them, but to be in submission to their will and the mental appetite, as well as the sexual and physical appetites are to be in submission to God and to His Word, the individual choosing the pain and suffering through God’s power and grace of NOT doing every whim of the flesh, enslaved to its desires, but subduing it through prayer, fellowship, meditation and community.

There is much grace and power given to one who chooses to fear God and cling to Christ. The mind and flesh can scream – but those in Christ, trusting Him looking to Him, obedient as He gives grace overcome, because greatervis He who is in us than He who is in the world.

Yes, many women do it because they need income and that is a fault of society, the breakdown a family, of community, the hardening of hearts and refusing to love. This is also a fault of the church.

We are all to blame for that.

So maybe we could give up our Starbucks and take care of just one life?

Or maybe we don’t think it’s worth that….

I know there is a balance and I’m working on that, but beyond that is a need for drawing in to the savior, to the one who loved perfectly giving his life for every human treasure down here.

Those who continue to refuse him when knowing the truth will find that he is a man of Honor and he will never Force his love on anyone.

Those who choose to have nothing to do with him, he will honor them to have that choice when they pass through the Veil, but once we go through this Earth the Shadows are ended for it is only in this life where Darkness and Light can coexist.

Not so once we pass through the Veil, then there is Darkness or there is light and the choices that we make here, we will carry with us. But only one choice is needed to be with Christ. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Prayerfully we will make a choice to believe him and receive his love and believe what a great treasure we are in the eyes of God.

Every blade of grass, every healthy DNA, every Sunrise, every sunset declares his love for us. May He Grant us eyes to see it.

I’m working on letting go of the things not needed for life so those who do not have everything they need for life can have what they need.

It is not easy to change patterns. I’ve been working on this for 4 years and I don’t know if I’ll overcome but I’m working on it.

Ultimately Christ Jesus is the Savior and this world is a broken place.

But all who, like the thief on the cross, simply believe and say yes to his love, will hear the words of comfort, “This day you will be with Me in Paradise.”

Because it was for Pharisees and priests who called for his crucifixion, for Roman soldiers who crucified him and worshiped other gods, for prostitutes and “sinners” and for the disciples who ran away when He was being captured…

It was for every human – whose value was infinitely worth more than all the gold and jewels of the world – that He died, so that we might live forever with him.

So, NO. Prostitution legalized will help no one and it will cause far more harm than whatever is being done already.

Because it tells an entire generation that WE don’t care enough to find other means for these women to have income and support other than to allow them to sell their own bodies. And that is damnable.

Maybe, just maybe, we could kill AI and stop spending millions of dollars on that and pour it into the women in need of income? Give up our new shiny Tesla for a beat up used Suburu and pour the extra thousands into teaching those stuck in prostitution that they are treasured and loved. It would be a good start.

Maybe back off our computer use and put good old fashioned phone jobs back into business.

Even crazier, maybe start thinking about how we could reinstitute good old-fashioned marriage with “till death do us part” values into society and spend more time and energy teaching people how to love one another than how to play video games and watch movies and do Sports?

No judgment. Just striving to speak – or type- the Truth in Love.  And here is where the church in my opinion all too often has failed in the western world.

Judgment died at the cross. There is a judgment that Jesus said is just and we are to make right judgments, but right judgments equally judges the person in the mirror with the same law of God that we judge the person on the other side. The law of God condemns pride and lies as equally as it condemns the act of homosexuality. The law of God condemns greed as equally as it condemns murder. But I haven’t heard a whole lot of preachers preaching on that…. It’s okay, we still have time to repent….🤷‍♀️

Bring the concept, not the legalistic form but the concept of Sabbath rest back into society, but that requires faith in God who provides all good things. Because the moment we put our trust in other things, then we don’t understand how to rest. And it doesn’t mean when people come to God that things suddenly get better. There are certainly challenges often it gets harder. Because there are forces of Darkness that want to continue devaluing human life. Christ said that the devil was a murderer and a liar from the beginning.

WE are the ones who over the past 150 years have stripped meaningful work from society so that we can look really smart and intelligent and have all sorts of cool fun toys. We Delight in our ease, in our choice of a thousand pieces of clothes, of ordering on Amazon — completely oblivious to the destruction that we are headed to as a society that we ourselves 🤯 have created.

Just for the record on the day of judgment, there will be no lie left standing, when we face Truth incarnate.

May we not wait until that day to start the conversation with him — and to hear his love for every human. Even us.

Our bodies and brains aren’t meant to control us, they are meant to be in submission to us, but for that we need the power of God and the grace and the time to implement lasting change.

In the meantime, thank God for the words, “Your sins are forgiven.”

Every person will stand before Christ and give an account for every careless word we’ve spoken and for every act we’ve done.

God is not willing that any should perish. That is not his desire but he will not force anybody to believe or to love him. If we ignore him and continue to ignore him, then yes he will grant us what we choose but when we cross through the Veil, will we still have a choice?

The word of God says it is appointed for man to die and then the judgment. Let’s not wait until that day to believe his great love for us, that everyone, no matter what they’ve done is a treasure. And let us live our lives and see to it that our country has laws that reflect God’s truth and Grace.

And let us be the first to run to help those in need and to tell the prostitute – and the prideful – your sins are forgiven. YOU are a treasure.
