Wow. Google has completely erased my father’s name out of the start of Earth Day. He started it. For years it was known because of the division basically Gaylord Nelson stole the idea and the name and for years people had listed that he was the founder of the global Earth Day and Gaylord Nelson of the April Earth Day. Now no matter what I look up everything is giving honor to Gaylord Nelson.
“Global Earth Day” “International Earth Day” used to be terms attributed to my father’s orginal vision of Earth Day.
When was the first Earth Day? In reality, March 20th 1970 at 7:56 pm ET. Celebrated that year and every year after at the moment of the Spring Equinox for many years at the United Nations under the name of Earth Day through the ringing of the peace bell.
But not according to Google, anymore. Used to be you could look this up and get some accurate information. The fact that history is now rewritten online is of deep concern to me.
Even when I looked up when was the Spring Equinox, 1970? It references John McConnell as having an idea about Earth day but the real Earth day was celebrated in April according to Google. That’s strange that’s not what Google said 6 years ago when I was checking out how history and Wikipedia was following things. Interesting that history so easily can be changed. Is anyone Time stamping and recording what Google says over the past 10 years or so? Is there a record of the change?
Who founded Earth Day? Again very weird. There was a time when it would give two stories at least even though one of them was not completely true.
No mention of my father. Roughly 40 Years of his work does not come up in a simple search.
Google can rewrite history. That’s scary.
I’m not worried about my father’s name, I’m worried about the fact that 5 or 6 years ago when I did a Google search the answers were completely different than what I’m reading right now.
People! Please be aware of what time we are living in. Wake up.
Historians of this generation, I urge you to rise up and take a stand once again for truth in history. I urge you once you think you know something, to study as equally those who oppose you and pray to God for truth because in case you haven’t noticed, there’s an awful lot of lies out there right now. But when a culture or Society has lost its sense of Truth and value of Truth, death and destruction is not far behind.
Truth is really important. And one day every human being will stand before truth incarnate and any lies that we’ve covered ourselves with will be gone in an instant.
Regarding John McConnell and Gaylord Nelson for them personally, it doesn’t matter who started Earth Day – what’s going to matter is what Jesus Christ says to them on the day they pass through the Veil and face Christ.
My father went beautifully and peacefully to be with the Lord in 2012. We were worshiping God and singing hymns. He never wanted to be in a nursing home. My mother asked him to trust him with that judgment, he was 97 years of age and she had been his caretaker up until that point.
He went into the nursing home and was there less than 24 hours.
See it’s not a matter of what everybody thinks about you and my father knew that, that’s why he refused to take Gaylord Nelson to court when all his friends and colleagues said he should, because he wasn’t worried about the judgment of this world and he wasn’t worried about what people thought about him. He was hurt by the Betrayal, but he didn’t stay in that hurt, he moved forward.
He felt led of God to start Earth Day. He felt called to peace, Justice and the care of Earth but he was a pacifist and disagreed strongly with Nelson and the environmental teach-ins that often were violent, anything but peaceful.
We lived 50% below poverty level a part of my life because my father refused to be obsessed over money. To the best of his ability for he strove to follow Jesus Christ, His Lord and Savior. (We never lacked. God always provided.)
The Earth flag was his idea but he hardly made any money from it; others took the idea and used it but he did not receive ongoing income from the sales; it was not copyrighted under his name.
He wasn’t worried about it.
Because he knew that God took care of his every need and if people steal from you or they choose to misuse what you have done and not give you credit you deserve, he wasn’t worried about it because he wasn’t looking for their approval or glory. He was looking for God’s.
Both of my parents have gone to be with Jesus Christ. And their passing was peaceful and beautiful and had no regrets for they walked in the knowledge that their sins were forgiven and in the grace that was received so many years before when they were little, continuing, thank God, in the faith they had as children, certainly not perfectly, for no one is perfect, but God is faithful when we are not. They knew who they were. They were children of the Living God. They were forgiven, redeemed – a gift offered to all of mankind for those who choose to receive it.
Both of them were in their nineties when they went to be with Jesus and there was no fear, not on my part or my children’s part or my parents part, there was only peace and joy. Yes, grief and sorrow that comes with missing those we love, but overwhelming joy and peace knowing they were home and had lived their lives fully in Christ Jesus.
But I’ve walked through the valley of the Shadow with others, and that is not always the case.
Some people do not have the knowledge of who they are in Jesus Christ and they need to be encouraged through Scripture and worship not to give in to the fear and the anger, for Christ redeems fully those who look to him.
Others do not have the Saving Grace and the Valley of the Shadow is a very scary thing not knowing what will happen, or worse for those who have not believed truth, that believe things contrary to what God in his truth teaches, some may assume a joy or a peace that is not theirs and that will not be given to them when they pass through the veil and that is heartbreaking. That is not the will of God. He desires all to be saved. But he will force upon no one eternal life, because that is not love. We can not earn the gift so beautifully and freely given — but we can refuse and reject it, when we believe we have things of much more value than the Gift of God…
God has given this Earth to the Children of Men. Many in this life are blessed with the choice to choose life and death, not just for ourselves but for those within our circle of influence. God is just and righteous and holy.
We know that God is full of Mercy and we pray continually for those who do not know Jesus Christ.
We also know God is just and Jesus Christ himself said many will say, “Lord Lord” and He will say, “I never knew you.” Truly, What does it gain a person if he gains the world but loses his soul?
My earthly father was a man of Peace who obeyed the word of Jesus Christ to pray for his enemies and so, heavely Father, in Jesus name, I pray for Gaylord Nelson.
Lord, you know whether somehow Mr. Nelson forgot the conversations with my father and whether it was innocent that he forgot and used the name that my father chose for Peace Justice and the Care of Earth at the moment of the Spring Equinox.
Lord you know his heart and so Father according to your command I ask you to please forgive his sins against my earthly father because one day he will stand before John McConnell’s Savior and given account in truth to everything that he has done down here and he will not be judged by people but he and every human will be judged by You, Living God, as will I and my father.
And as well dear Lord, I know that you are not willing that any be separated you from you for eternity, but I come to the knowledge of your truth and Grace and love and I ask you Father to please forgive Gaylord Nelson all of his sins.
I pray that you might forgive him the sin that he’s committed against my dad by taking the name that my father suggested and using it for his own means that were, at times, contrary to peace.
And Lord, I do praise you and thank you for the gifts and knowledge You have given men for environmentalism, to protect this beautiful planet You have give us.
Lord not all environmetaism is good, some is in error, but thank you for that which is good that has come through Gaylord Nelson. I thank you, because every good and perfect gift comes from you God and there were many things that Gaylord did that were good things, even though there are things within the environmental movement that that are more concerned with nature than the humans that you put in to this earth and often we foolish humans, Father God, worship and give honor and glory to the House, personifying that which is not person, instead of honoring You, the Creator of this beautiful home we call earth, and we ask your forgiveness for these people for that Father in Jesus name.
Lord I especially ask forgiveness for those of us called by Your name who have not walked in your truth and love and grace, because Lord, You know that there are times when people are not turning necessarily away from You, but they turn away from the incorrect vision of You that we have falsely given them in our arrogance and our ignorance, foolishness and pride.
So please forgive those called by the name of Jesus forgive those of us Christians when we have not hallowed Your Name in our words and actions.
We were saved by your grace, yet to our shame we have not loved You with our whole heart and we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
Forgive us when we have committed the abomination of Pride, thinking we are better than others, or not fully depending on You, boasting in ourselves in our supposed Works rather than in the Cross of Christ, for you said clearly in Proverbs 16 pride is an abomination before you because it pushes people away from you.
Please, Lord we are ashamed when we act like that, please forgive us and help us to walk in humility and truth and Grace. Speaking the truth of Your Word
This day, Father in the name of Jesus, I pray that Your kingdom come and Your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven.
Father, I pray that Your name be hallowed in this world.
Lord I pray that this world might come to know you, even as you have promised, because we will see this with our eyes one day because you still Resurrect the Dead, that the knowledge of the glory of the Lord will cover the Earth as the waters cover the sea and that of the increase of your righteousness and peace there will be no end.
We long for the day when Wars will cease to the ends of the Earth.
We pray for the day as your word declares when the cloud that covers this Earth will be removed, You are not willing that any should perish and so Lord we Echo your cry, Father, forgive them for they don’t know what they’re doing.
Please Father, have mercy on this generation, help this people Lord, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
