I post these letters here because the chances of them getting through The Gatekeepers are close to nil.
I have much respect for Rep. Petersen. She has accomplished many good things in many different areas. I especially appreciate her striving to take care of the poor and working toward housing and many other things.
She posted an email concerned about the EPA testing abortion pills and gender transitioning chemicals in Wastewater. This is the first time I’ve found her a bit unlogical in her analysis and so I am just presenting my opinion.
Hi, Rep. Pettersen,
I realize the chance of this getting past The Gatekeepers are close to nil, but just want to urge you towards truth and integrity. I have chosen to support you and appreciate your care for the environment, concern for housing issues and many other things that you do beautifully well.
The arguments have gone back and forth regarding abortion for a very long time. At the core of it is a religious question, a question of belief for a person’s religion is what they firmly believe and are willing to fight for and die for. If we have nothing we are willing to die for and then it is our comfort and self preservation that is our first religion.
I understand that you do not consider the life inside the womb equal to the life outside the womb. If in the name of Family Planning we chose to kill the baby that comes out of the womb I would hope that you would passionately fight against that. Why not kill the baby that is unwanted because the family planning no longer meets the need? Perhaps at conception there was Financial Resources to provide for the child but now the situation has changed and we can no longer afford the baby so why not just kill it? I’m hoping such thought process would be disgusting and horrific to you.
Please understand there is a large portion of American population that find the life inside the womb an individual human from the moment of conception. We do not believe the size of the human matters or the location of the human matters, or the development of the human matters. So again this is a huge difference of belief. We believe a woman is responsible for life and is the first guard in humanity against the forces of death. No wonder the spirits of Darkness strive so hard to make women give up their right to life. The same door that is opened in the spirit Realm that says the life inside the womb does not matter which should be the safest place on Earth, it is the same door that says you can shoot in schools and remove life because the life doesn’t matter if it doesn’t meet your agenda. It isn’t the woman’s body that is of concern in abortion. It is not the woman that is being killed. It is the child in the womb. There is no right in the eyes of many to destroy it the life inside the womb.
There is obviously a balance we cannot completely Outlaw abortion, that’s ridiculous and when the right wing gets extreme on this it gets a bit contrary to their own agenda. I do not believe in abortion unless there is a valid cause or Reason yet I had to walk through one of my best friends abortion because of her ecto pregnancy.
And so the battle goes on and now we have yet another dynamic.
Your argument for the first time in a while because usually I think you are very logical, comes across completely illogical to me. The EPA is measuring things that are harmful to the environment. If the abortion pills and other things are causing harm to the environment, you who are so passionate about the environment, would you not support this? I get the fear of having the access to easy abortion taken away from women, but there’s an awful lot of lies out there. And I will urge you take time to step away from just listening to what you’re accustomed to listen to, consider the cost, if your number one goal is to be in office whether or not issues are correct or right then by all means don’t worry about the truth, but I don’t see that about you and I don’t expect that from you. But you alone can look at your own soul and heart and determine what your biggest goals are in life. Is it to succeed no matter the cost? Or is it to do what is right, no matter the cost…?
It is illogical to use the abortion issue against EPA standards for abortion pills. If they are causing trouble to the environment why should they not be checked out just as thoroughly as anything else? Do you not consider them medical or chemical?
I believe this is the first time in reading your emails that I have found what I consider practical error in your logic and I would ask you to take a step back. The flip side of the coin is if the EPA is being manipulated to meet a certain political agenda then that definitely could be dealt with. So for example if they evaluate abortion pills and they are lying in their evaluation that should most certainly be handled because truth both for you and for your opponents is imperative otherwise what do we have? A Country full of lies? It doesn’t give us much ground to stand on.
Regarding the abortion issue, it is really complex because at its heart is based on people’s belief system not science, and as long as our belief system as to the value of life and what constitutes valuable life is in disagreement, the war back and forth around abortion will rage. I pray that we come to some agreement and peace.
But ultimately and yes this again is a matter of belief, I believe there is a Judge that judges greed and pride equally damnable to murder, at least according to the Bible it is true and so for those who walk in the knowledge of God, they should fear God and they shouldn’t be so careless to be arrogant and prideful, or to be greedy and not take care of the poor, or to murder and take the life of one for whom Christ died, whether in the womb or out of the womb, ultimately it’s not going to matter after we die what we thought, but what God thought about it.
So that to me is always the place where my time and energy should first be going, because we can all agree that death is at the end of every human life.
And since what happens after death will take infinitely more time than what happens here, I find that it’s a good place to focus my energy on what happens after my death, not just what I’m doing in my few years down here.
Prayers for wisdom for you. Again I appreciate the work that you’ve done. God’s peace.
Sincerely,
Christa Mason
