Government Funding, Illegals and Grace

This is just a response to a post on Facebook. It’s messy and needs edited. Feel free to dig through for the gold if you are interested. God’s peace. And thank you, your time is an honor I do not take for granted.

We have been creating an unsustainable Society for at least 150 years. There are many many threads to it. Sorry for what you have had to go through especially with the cancer but also with the government red tape. I could tell Story upon story of frustrations with government stuff I finally just gave it to God. You’ll forgive me I just came across you through one of my cousins and I just followed you just now so I have no idea what you believe, I’ve Got Friends all across the Spectrum I don’t expect everybody to believe like I do, but I can tell you that there is a great power and Grace in following Jesus Christ. I just give the disconnects to him and let him deal with it when it’s more than I could handle. And I can’t tell you the thousands of dollars we’ve lost over one thing or another, but just because the government isn’t being kind to me or being rational in any form of the word in various places, doesn’t mean that I should then not be kind to others who are also suffering.

The entire system has been screwed up for a long time. I was raised ghetto Brooklyn. Most of my life was spent 50% below poverty level but that was a choice. My parents did what they believed God called them to do and he always provided and took care for them. They didn’t focus on making a large income because they figured he would help out if they were being obedient to him and we never lacked. But I do not believe the welfare system is structured correctly I personally believe that the care of individuals should be for the family to take care of and the community to take care of. I don’t believe that’s the government’s job, and I believe that’s where the Brokenness and disconnect starts. But we are too reliant upon this system for it to change overnight. Maybe in the next 80 years practical transitions could be done. Everybody has time energy money and resources. You can look for example toward communist China, I just met a lady with a 1-year-old Baby that had just come over from China and those within her Circle because she and her husband both have to work here to make ends meet informed her that since her parents didn’t live here she needed to travel baby back off with her parents to be the grandparents and take care of them and come back here and work. That might be the best financial situation to bring money into their living situation and into our government but I do not think that would be the wisest for her for her child. Her baby needs her and that’s what I told her. And if I was in the position to take care of her child and helped her or work so that she could provide for the child I would. And I don’t know if I could do anything or not I’m still trying to figure that out. But it’s complicated because the moment we think that everything’s up to us it gets pretty goofy. It’s the weirdest thing we humans are some of the strangest creatures. We did not create the Sun the Stars the moon or the sky. We did not create grass or trees we live with what we have been given. We do not put the breath inside of our body. Every breath is intentionally and lovingly given by generous loving God. We did not give birth to ourselves and it took many people to support us for many years to bring us to the position we are, yet somehow we think that we are our own which blows my brain and that we are self sustainable…🤷‍♀️😊

It was at a King Soopers of all places in a very well-dressed man in a very fine business suit was quite frantic on the phone. I pause because I was concerned something might be seriously wrong like maybe somebody had died or something and I asked after he hung up if I could be of assistance. He often shook his head and said oh no my client insisted I closed the deal right now! A 3 million dollar deal and I’m at the King Soopers and he wanted me to close it but we did! I was properly impressed I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody who closed 3 million dollar deals before and I complimented him and congratulated him on the deal. He said well I live by the belief that God helps those who help themselves.

I smiled. Just letting you know that’s not actually in the Bible sometimes people think it is but nowhere is does the bible teach that it’s actually pretty contrary to that.

Certainly healthy work ethic is taught in scriptures are not debating that, but there’s so much more.

I smiled and I said well thankfully he also takes care of the Lilies of the Field and the birds of the year or I would have been homeless years ago. And God is always provided for me. I don’t have the mental and physical ability that many people do to hold a job down but my stuff is crazy enough that I can’t get on disability and honestly with all the experiences we have government I don’t trust them to take care of me anyway. God is always done that for 56 years and I’m really seriously grateful for his care especially for my husband the past 25 years that has been a prime part of that. But yeah but for the grace and love of God and my husband I’d be homeless. Being stable is not my gift and we have taken away meaningful work from much of population for the past 150 years. Starting with the age of manufacturing where we just told everybody oh there’s going to be so many jobs with the factories! And then we did it with computers and then with AI, we have so much knowledge and we are just so smart. Okay now I’m in trouble cuz I don’t believe in sarcasm.

So we continue to strip meaningful work away from more and more people until eventually 10% of the population is going to have to take care of 90%. It’s so weird. Just because we can doesn’t mean we should. Now I don’t expect to convince anybody to go back to horses though it might not be a bad idea it’d be way better for the environment I guess. But there’s a lot of threads to the disconnect in the government right now. The biggest thing we can do is be it peace and come to the place where we are willing to admit the fault of the person in the mirror and start the change there. If we can’t do that then the best thing we can do is spend bookoo’s of time which is what I do at the feet of Jesus in the cross and just asking for help and grace and mercy. I figure he created the world, he’s capable of fixing it. But he gave this Earth to the Children of Men, and he honors us with our choices. The Bible commands people to take care of those for fleeing their country to take care of the alien in the homeless in the Widow. It is foolish foolish beyond belief for us to turn away the poor and the oppressed. There are a few things scarier to me in this country than what we are doing with those in need. Greed in the Bible is as damnable a sin as murder. If we have to get rid of things why don’t we just get rid of video games, gambling, cigarettes, vaping, Entertainment Sports not actual Sports where you’re moving, movies, did I mention video games? There are so many things we could stop doing that would provide in the economy what is needed for our daily lives but we don’t want to give up our comfort. We just want to get rid of those people that we think are taking away from our standard of living. That is disgusting, revolting, sorry for being so blunt here I was raised in Brooklyn that’s my excuse, I do need to work on my wording so forgive me I’ve had quite a few friends tell me that I needed to work on my wording, but it’s disgusting. If everybody would take just what we need for life there would be more than enough to share. It’s only greed that creates an environment where there’s not enough for everybody. There’s more than enough resources in this world for the people God created in whom he loves and sent his son to die for. The problem isn’t a lack of resources, it’s what we’re doing with it. Time energy money and resources all flow in together and I have known generous people with millions of dollars and I have known greedy people with millions of dollars. I have known generous homeless people and I have known greedy homeless people. When our passion and delight and fun becomes taking care of the poor and oppressed, when our rest is found in the place of God instead of having to stare at a screen to make our brains feel better, there will be a better economy. But until then, we would do best to care for the poor and not be afraid to let go of things we don’t need for life, and find our peace in him in this imperfect world. Because ultimately the one person we will never be able to get away from is the person in the mirror. And the second person we will never get away from is God. So we had best learn to live with both. God’s peace
